What people think of you the minute they see or meet you seem to be a big deal in this society. To what extent do people care about the ideas of first impression? Surely if you were out job seeking or found yourself interested in the girl down the street you might want to work on your first impressions and meeting skill. Personally I find that after a while in certain situations the whole "first impressions" thing is over rated on both sides really. On one side you are trying to achieve approval of some sort (If you’re the kind of person who cares about what others perceive you as) and then on the other side you set and ready to make some kind of judgment.
Obviously in the event that you’re looking to be employed flattery isn’t a bad idea. However, I find that in other cases people just act differently altogether. Although “acting” might be more impressive rather than your actual personality, I question if it’s worth it all. Not all people are like this none the less; but for the few that are isn’t it tiring?
In the first instant you meet a person you should aim to be that way the whole time you know them. That way there is no tricks. And in most cases people find that their first impressions of people aren’t what they thought they were. And as far as impressions in general wouldn’t it be nice to not care about them at all every once in a while. It might simply be a human thing to care though. I find I do a lot, but for what; I have no clue.
